Placements24 is seeking a Remote Junior Software Developer to join a globally distributed team. This remote-first role welcomes recent graduates or early-career developers ready to learn and contribute to diverse software projects from home.

Based in Rustenburg, North West, SA, you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, participate in code reviews, and grow skills across languages and modern technologies while delivering high-quality code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, JavaScript).
• Understanding of software development principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, especially in a remote setting.
• Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
• A passion for technology and continuous learning.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
• Residency within South Africa preferred, with connection to Rustenburg area a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in accordance with project requirements.
• Collaborate with senior developers and cross-functional teams to design and implement software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge.
• Assist in debugging and troubleshooting software defects.
• Contribute to the development of new features and enhancements for existing applications.
• Learn and apply new programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
• Document code and technical specifications.
• Engage actively in agile development processes and team discussions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices and tools.
