Placements24 is seeking a Remote Exploration Data Analyst to join a forward-thinking geological team, supporting operations in the North West province from a fully remote setting. The role centers on turning raw exploration data into actionable geological insights that drive strategic decisions for mineral exploration.

You will process, visualize, and interpret large datasets using Python, R, SQL and GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS), identify trends and anomalies, and collaborate remotely with geologists

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (data science, geology, geophysics).
• Proven data analyst experience, preferably in mining or exploration.
• Proficient in Python, R, SQL and data visualization.
• Experience with GIS and geological modeling is a plus.
• Strong communication for remote collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and manage large geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets from various exploration projects.
• Develop and implement analytical workflows and algorithms for data processing and interpretation.
• Create clear and informative data visualizations, maps, and reports to communicate findings to geological and management teams.
• Identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas of interest for mineral exploration based on data analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Geology, Geophysics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within the mining or exploration sector.
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Python (Pandas, Matplotlib), R, SQL, or similar.
