Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Electrical Engineer to spearhead Grid Modernization initiatives. This fully remote role focuses on designing advanced solutions to improve reliability and efficiency of power grids, with collaboration across time zones.

You will evaluate new technologies, develop project specifications, and contribute to smart grid and sustainable energy integration nationwide, with a core link to the Eastern Cape region.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in power system engineering with focus on grid modernization and smart grid technologies.
• Proven experience with SCADA systems, substation automation, and DMS.
• Strong understanding of communication protocols used in the utility sector (DNP3, IEC 61850).
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of smart grid technologies including metering, automation, and substation modernization.
• Develop technical specifications and requirements for grid modernization projects.
• Conduct power system studies and analyses to identify improvements and assess new tech impact.

You will play a crucial role in evaluating new technologies, developing project specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams across different time zones. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of energy infrastructure, focusing on smart grid technologies and sustainable energy integration, supporting projects nationwide but with a core team connection to the Eastern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of smart grid technologies, including advanced metering, distribution automation, and substation modernization.
• Develop technical specifications and requirements for grid modernization projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
