Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Data Scientist specializing in Predictive Modeling for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will develop and deploy predictive models to drive business decisions, optimize operations, and forecast trends.

You will work with large datasets, collaborate with stakeholders, and communicate insights through visuals and reports. A strong background in statistics, ML, and data visualization is essential, with 3+ years of experience and an advanced degree.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, CS, data science, or related field.
• 3+ years in data science with a focus on predictive modeling.
• Proficiency in Python or R and libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, time series forecasting, and ML algorithms.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau.
• Familiarity with SQL and database management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience working in a remote team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Clean, transform, and prepare large datasets for modeling and analysis.
• Identify key features and drivers within data to inform model development.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and techniques, and iterate for improvement.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into data science problems.
• Communicate findings and model insights effectively through visualizations and reports.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling.
• Implement and maintain models in production environments.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover trends and patterns.
