About the Role Our client, a leading public health non-profit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes in underserved communities, is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Remote Community Health Educator. This role is essential for developing and delivering health education programs and resources virtually, with a focus on promoting well‑being within communities served by our client, including those in the Polokwane region. As a fully remote position, you will leverage digital platforms to engage individuals and groups, disseminate accurate health information, and empower them to make informed decisions about their health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in public health, excellent communication and presentation skills, and a passion for health equity. You will work collaboratively with program managers and local partners to design culturally appropriate health interventions that address prevalent health issues and encourage positive behavioral changes. This is an excellent opportunity to drive public health initiatives from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver engaging virtual health education programs and workshops on various topics (e.g., nutrition, chronic disease management, maternal health, infectious disease prevention).
• Create accessible and culturally relevant health education materials, including online content, presentations, and digital resources.
• Utilize various online platforms and tools to reach target audiences effectively.
• Conduct needs assessments to identify community health priorities and tailor educational content accordingly.
• Collaborate with local partners and community leaders to ensure program relevance and uptake.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health education interventions, collecting feedback and reporting on outcomes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest public health research, best practices, and health guidelines.
• Provide health counseling and support to individuals and groups via virtual channels.
• Contribute to the development of strategic plans for community health initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Nursing, or a related health science field. A Master's degree is a strong asset.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community health education or public health program delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering virtual health education programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex health information.
• Proficiency in using online communication and presentation tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, webinar platforms).
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and behavior change theories.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
• Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of public health issues relevant to South Africa and specifically the Limpopo province is advantageous.
