Placements24 is seeking a highly specialized Chemical Engineer with a strong focus on process safety for a fully remote role. You will develop, implement, and audit PSM programs across global manufacturing sites, including Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in chemical process engineering with extensive PHA, HAZOP, FMEA, MOC, PSSR, and Mechanical Integrity experience, and can lead audits, training, and incident investigations from anywhere.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years in chemical process engineering with a focus on process safety.
• Knowledge of PSM elements (PHA, MOC, PSSR, Mechanical Integrity).
• Experience leading HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Familiarity with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards.
• Strong analytical and remote collaboration skills.
• CCPSC certification is highly desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in specialty chemicals, is expanding its remote workforce and is looking for a highly specialized Chemical Engineer with a strong focus on process safety. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and auditing process safety management (PSM) systems across our diverse manufacturing sites worldwide, including our operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . Your role will be critical in ensuring that all chemical processes meet the highest safety standards, minimizing risks, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of safety regulations, hazard analysis techniques, and risk mitigation strategies. You will work collaboratively with site-based engineering and operations teams to uphold our commitment to zero incidents. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape safety protocols on a global scale without the need for on-site relocation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with global standards and local regulations.
• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections of chemical processes and facilities, identifying potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Develop and recommend risk reduction strategies, including engineering controls and administrative procedures.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs for engineers, operators, and management.
• Stay current with evolving process safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with site engineers and management teams to foster a strong safety culture.
• Manage documentation related to process safety, including safety procedures, training records, and audit findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical process engineering with a specialized focus on process safety.
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience with PSM elements (e.g., PHA, MOC, PSSR, Mechanical Integrity).
• Proven experience leading and facilitating HAZOP studies and other risk assessment methodologies.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders remotely.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Certification in Process Safety (e.g., CCPSC) is highly desirable.
