Placements24's client, a global automotive technology leader, seeks a Remote Automotive AI/ML Engineer to develop and deploy AI models for autonomous driving, ADAS, and intelligent vehicle features. Work from your home office with a remote-first setup, reporting from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA.

You will design, train, and optimize ML systems, collaborate across software, data science, and automotive domains, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and safety validation in a flexible, performance-driven

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in CS/AI/ML or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on AI/ML development and deployment in automotive domain.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-learn).
• Experience with Pandas/NumPy and big data technologies.
• Strong knowledge of CNNs, RNNs, Transformers and sensor fusion.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and deploy ML models for perception, prediction, planning, and control in autonomous driving systems.
• Design AI algorithms for ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision avoidance.
• Process, clean, and analyze large datasets of sensor data (LiDAR, camera, radar) for model training.
• Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and automotive domain experts.
• Research and evaluate state-of-the-art AI/ML techniques and tools relevant to the automotive industry.
• Optimize ML models for performance, efficiency, and real-time deployment on automotive hardware.
• Develop and maintain robust ML pipelines for CI/CD.
• Contribute to the ethical considerations and safety validation of AI systems in vehicles.
• Document research findings, model architectures, and implementation details thoroughly.
