Placements24 seeks a Remote Automation & Control Systems Engineer to design, implement and optimize PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions for automated manufacturing. This remote-first role supports global operations and does not require relocation to Stellenbosch.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in industrial automation, a degree in Electrical/Mechatronics, and hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, and WinCC/Ignition. Strong problem solving in a remote setting is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency with major PLC programming platforms (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Mitsubishi GX Works).
• Experience in designing and configuring SCADA and HMI systems (WinCC, Ignition, FactoryTalk View).
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
• Experience with robotics integration and motion control is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
• Develop and implement SCADA and HMI solutions for process monitoring and control.
• Integrate control components, sensors, actuators, and robotics into cohesive solutions.
• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of control systems, often remotely.

Requirements
