Job summary

Somewhere is seeking an Audit Associate to support audit engagements for a US-based client while based in South Africa. This remote, contractor-style role emphasizes accuracy, accountability, and timely delivery of high-quality audit work.

You will analyze financial data, prepare audit documentation, test internal controls, and communicate findings clearly to senior staff. US GAAP exposure is a plus and SAICA articles are advantageous for progression.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• SAICA articles in progress or completed is advantageous.
• 1–3 years audit experience, preferably in a firm.
• Strong understanding of audit principles and financial reporting.
• Detail-oriented and analytical.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setup.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of audit engagements from planning through to completion.
• Analyse financial statements and identify discrepancies or areas of risk.
• Prepare and maintain audit documentation in line with audit standards.
• Perform testing of internal controls and substantive procedures.
• Work closely with senior auditors and managers to meet deadlines and client expectations.
• Communicate findings clearly and professionally.
• Stay up to date with accounting and auditing standards (US GAAP exposure is a plus).
