Placements24 is assisting a growing retail group to recruit an Associate Legal Counsel to join their legal team in George, Western Cape. The role supports contract review, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution, with a remote work arrangement across South Africa.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney or Advocate with 2–4 years of post-qualification experience.
• Solid understanding of South African contract law and commercial principles.
• Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and amend commercial agreements (leases, supplier, marketing).
• Assist in consumer protection law compliance and other legislation.
• Support litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda for senior staff.
• Develop and maintain company policies and procedures.
• Support governance matters and IP portfolio management.
• Respond to legal inquiries from business units.
• Maintain accurate legal records and filing systems.
• Support risk management initiatives.
