Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Aircraft Systems Software Engineer to join a distributed team from anywhere in South Africa. You will design, develop, test, and deploy embedded software for advanced aircraft systems, with a focus on safety-critical requirements and RTOS-based implementations.

The role involves collaborating across hardware, systems, and quality teams, writing high-quality C/C++ or Ada code, and supporting the full development lifecycle in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Familiarity with safety-critical software processes (e.g., DO-178C).
• Proficiency in C/C++ and RTOS.
• Experience with Git and build automation tools.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Aircraft Systems Software Engineer to join their innovative team. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, testing, and deploying sophisticated software solutions for advanced aircraft systems. This role requires a deep understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and software development lifecycles within the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry . You will collaborate with a distributed team of engineers and scientists to push the boundaries of aviation technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software for critical aircraft systems, adhering to strict safety and reliability standards.
• Develop and maintain software components for flight control, navigation, and communication systems.
• Write efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code in languages such as C/C++ or Ada.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and integration.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and quality assurance personnel, in a remote work environment .
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues identified during testing or in deployed systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably within the aerospace or defense sectors.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Familiarity with software development processes for safety-critical systems (e.g., DO-178C).
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and build automation tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective remote teamwork.
