About the Role

Our client is a pioneering force in agricultural technology and is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Agronomist Specialist to join their expanding global team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your home office anywhere in South Africa. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of crop science, soil health, and sustainable farming practices, combined with a knack for leveraging digital tools to provide expert advice. You will play a crucial role in supporting farmers and agricultural businesses by offering data-driven recommendations to optimize crop yields, improve resource efficiency, and enhance overall farm sustainability. The role is nominally based out of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA , but operations are entirely remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert agronomic advice and technical support to farmers and agricultural clients through virtual consultations.
• Analyze farm data, including soil tests, weather patterns, crop health imagery, and yield reports, to develop tailored recommendations.
• Develop and implement crop management plans focusing on optimized fertilization, irrigation, pest control, and disease management.
• Utilize digital platforms and tools to monitor crop progress, identify potential issues, and advise on timely interventions.
• Educate clients on best practices for sustainable agriculture, soil health improvement, and water conservation.
• Stay current with advancements in agronomy, agricultural technology, and relevant industry trends.
• Collaborate with the product development team to provide feedback on existing tools and suggest improvements for new solutions.
• Create and deliver educational content, such as webinars, articles, and guides, for clients and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate client records and track the impact of implemented recommendations.
• Troubleshoot agronomic challenges and provide timely solutions to ensure client success.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in agronomy, crop consulting, or agricultural extension services.
• Strong knowledge of soil science, plant physiology, crop nutrition, and integrated pest management.
• Proficiency in using agricultural software, data analysis tools, and remote sensing technologies (e.g., GIS, drone imagery analysis).
• Excellent virtual communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage a remote workload effectively.
• Experience in providing client‑facing advisory services.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• A passion for sustainable agriculture and leveraging technology to drive farm efficiency.
• Must have a reliable home office setup with high‑speed internet access.
