Job description

Due to continued company growth, our client is recruiting permanently for a Remediation Scientist with a minimum of 1 year’s experience within the contaminated land industry. As a Remediation Scientist, you will initially join a large-scale project in East London and will be responsible for supervising project technical requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant licenses and regulations. You will support the project and wider technical team in the successful delivery of remediation works and tenders. General duties will include:

  1. Preparing consents, licences, and permits
  2. Liaising with clients, consultants, regulators, and other stakeholders as required
  3. Undertaking waste classification and coordination with waste facilities
  4. Compliance and environmental sampling/monitoring (including sampling, scheduling analysis, and completing chains of custody)
  5. Overseeing the technical aspects of waste disposal (including duty of care, management of import/export logs, and correspondence with receiving sites or facilities)
  6. Supervising treatment systems and specialist contractors onsite (qualification dependent)
  7. Undertaking watching brief activities, supervising, and instructing on technical aspects of site remediation/waste management works as required
  8. Contributing to all technical reporting required by the company and project

Requirements

To be considered, you must have a minimum of 1 year’s professional experience within the contaminated land/remediation sector and hold a degree in a related discipline. Additionally, a strong understanding of contaminated land reporting requirements concerning the planning regime and a conceptual understanding of available remediation technologies are essential.

Since the work involves UK-wide projects, you must hold a full UK driving license and be willing to travel.

Rewards and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges between £30,000 – £35,000 per annum, depending on experience and suitability. A generous benefits package will also be offered, reflecting the company's success and size.
