Job description

• Critical analysis of systems and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects and to enhance overall asset reliability.
• To learn and be a key custodian of problem solving and tracking in the department you are assigned to.
• To identify, investigate, motivate, and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centres.
• To work closely with the departmental maintenance planner to ensure that equipment reliability tasks are programmed into the CMMS (checks and inspections).
• To provide support to the department’s maintenance team, especially in the event of significant breakdowns.
• To have an active management role during outages, assisting the maintenance team in managing the shut workload.
• To maintain a level of machine expertise, ensuring that equipment / system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.
• Complete failure analyses on all breakdowns and planned corrective maintenance.
• Generates a monthly top ten failures report and action plan to rectify in O.P.P. format.
• Basic RCA on problem areas and proposes Preventative or Predictive Maintenance Schedules.
• Identify training needs and service providers.
• Mentor apprentices or trainee technicians.
• Project manage small projects related to their investigations.
• Remaining in touch with technology and advise on improvements with current systems.
• Performs standby duty in the plant to ensure that downtime is managed and minimised.
