Job description

Purpose of Role:

To implement the asset management strategy and to improve the reliability of critical assets in the plant through the rigorous implementation of asset care best practices, systematic analysis of data and optimisation of maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive Asset Care strategies: Implement and execute on key asset care practices and strategies developed by the Group Divisional Reliability Engineering team, tailored to the specific needs of the Western Cape plants.

• Improve Equipment Reliability: Reduce equipment downtime through proactive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and effective failure analysis.

• Optimize Maintenance Costs: Reduce maintenance costs by minimizing unplanned downtime, improving equipment lifespan, and optimizing spare parts inventory.

• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on equipment failures.

• Implement and monitor predictive maintenance programs.

• Optimize preventative maintenance schedules.

• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely availability.

• Develop and implement equipment reliability improvement projects.

• Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams with link into the Divisional Reliability Engineering Manager.

• Collect and analyze equipment performance data.

• Prepare reports on equipment reliability and maintenance performance.

• Ensure adequate engineering resources are available to support production operations and implement maintenance strategies.

• Enhance equipment safety and reduce the risk of accidents by identifying and mitigating potential hazards.

• Drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes and equipment reliability through data analysis, performance monitoring and best practice sharing.

• Assist in closure of all site capital expenditure projects within budget.

Qualifications:

• Engineering Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

• Professional Reliability Certification will be beneficial.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of maintenance systems, execution, and philosophies.

• RCM/ACPD process knowledge.

• Expert FMEA process knowledge.

• Condition monitoring techniques and applications.

• Asset performance (OEE/EMU) calculations.

• Structured problem-solving techniques (DMAIC, 5Why).

• In-depth knowledge of CMMS and EAMS systems.

• Financial principles (e.g., ROI, NPV, IRR).

• Spare part optimisation methodologies.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 Years’ experience in reliability related activities, maintenance/engineering teams (artisans and specialists) and contractors/OEMs.
