A position has become available within Santam Heavy Haulage for a Relationship Manager, based in Johannesburg.
The role involves understanding premium and profit objectives through broker relationships, focusing on growth and retention via strategic marketing, underwriting, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage portfolio growth, retention, profitability, and set growth plans.
- Lead a team of Service Consultants and Underwriters within a cluster to serve brokers.
- Report on performance against targets.
- Identify and develop sales opportunities.
- Provide broker training.
- Ensure understanding of sales targets, products, and compliance among brokers.
- Develop strategies for portfolio growth and innovation.
- Utilize technology for data and performance management.
- Prospect for new brokers and business opportunities.
- Coordinate with Underwriting, Claims, and Finance teams.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure brokers operate within mandates.
- Comply with governance policies.
- Build and maximize broker relationships as the primary contact.
- Drive business performance in line with strategy.
- Align strategies between brokers and the company.
- Market Santam Heavy Haulage products effectively.
- Stay informed on market conditions and regulations.
- Participate in industry functions and continuous learning.
- Resolve customer and broker queries and complaints.
- Coordinate training on products, processes, and systems.
- Provide technical leadership on underwriting within your portfolio.
- Participate in retention strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
- FAIS accreditation required.
- RE 5 certification.
- NQF 7 insurance or risk management qualification preferred.
- At least 5 years of Commercial Insurance experience, with HCV insurance sales and underwriting advantageous.
- Experience visiting brokers and on-the-road engagement.
- Thorough knowledge of Heavy Haulage / HCV insurance products.
- Leadership experience essential.
