Job summary

Capitec is hiring a Data Engineer to join a pioneering Regulatory Reporting Automation Platform that automates SARB returns. You will design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based solutions using Python, AWS, and containerised technologies.

You will collaborate with data architects and cross‑functional teams to turn large financial data sets into regulator-ready outputs, enabling data quality, auditability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Advanced Python required.
• Strong SQL and data modelling.
• Experience with AWS data services.
• Django or similar backend framework experience.
• Kubernetes and containerised data solutions.
• ETL pipeline design and error handling.
• Data lake and data warehouse patterns.
• Data quality and governance implementation.
• CI/CD and version control.
• Infrastructure as code and workflow orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data platforms and infrastructure.
• Analyse requirements and contribute to design documentation with Data Architects.
• Build pipelines to keep data flowing reliably and efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Transform data into regulator-ready outputs for SARB regulatory reporting.
