Job summary

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is seeking a data engineer to build, maintain and optimise BI data pipelines that feed from diverse data systems across SARB and enable Data as a Service.

You will implement data service standards, manage domain workflows, monitor performance, ensure governance and security compliance, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in CS/Engineering/Math/Info Management or equivalent.
• 5–8 years’ experience building and maintaining data pipelines and services.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala or Java for production data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and optimise BI data pipelines feeding SARB data systems.
• Ensure data services meet governance, security and regulatory requirements.
• Design robust, scalable, and reusable data pipelines for analytics.
• Mentor junior data engineers and engage stakeholders across teams.
