Requirements: Appropriate qualification (MBChB) and full general practitioner registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
Prior oncology experience or experience/training in palliative care would be preferable. Research experience would be an advantage. Candidate should be engaged in activities indicating an academic interest.
Duties: Clinical (outpatient, inpatient and overtime cover) duties at the department of Radiation Oncology, Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Candidates must be willing to undertake an entrance test prior to interview. Prior oncology and palliative care experience would be beneficial. Applicant will be part of the academic training program for the specialty of Radiation Oncology.
The successful applicant will be required to register for the MMED Radiation Oncology at University of Pretoria, Health Sciences. Completion of Part 1 and part 2 exam (Radiation Oncology, College of Medicine South Africa). A completed research dissertation (MMED) is compulsory for specialist qualification.
