About the Role

Our client, a leading healthcare facility, is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Critical Care to join their dedicated team. This position is based in our state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga . The successful candidate will provide expert care to critically ill patients, manage complex medical equipment, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals. This role requires a strong clinical judgment, excellent critical thinking skills, and a deep commitment to patient advocacy and family support. Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill patients.
• Monitor vital signs, interpret diagnostic data, and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Operate and manage advanced life support equipment, including ventilators, defibrillators, and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
• Respond rapidly to emergency situations and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians and the healthcare team to develop and execute patient care plans.
• Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and care management.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in compliance with healthcare standards.
• Ensure adherence to infection control policies and safety protocols.
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
• Advocate for patient needs and ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse, with at least 1-2 years in a Critical Care or ICU setting.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required.
• Proven ability to manage critically ill patients with complex conditions.
• Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting ICU equipment.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga .
