To lead and manage nursing services at a regional level, ensuring excellence in patient care through standardisation, governance, quality oversight, culture cultivation, and care optimisation. The role oversees implementation of divisional and regional strategies, supports nursing leaders across specialities, and drives performance through clinical governance, innovation, and value-based healthcare.

This position will be based in Pietermaritzburg.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
  • Ensure consistent implementation of evidence-based nursing standards and practices across facilities. Lead clinical advisory initiatives to enhance patient safety and care outcomes.
  • Oversee compliance with nursing policies and legal frameworks. Coordinate updates and alignment of divisional policies with national and global best practices.
  • Monitor and improve nursing quality indicators, support the nursing management with root cause analyses, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Shape a professional nursing culture that supports leadership, accountability, and employee engagement. Facilitate professional development pathways and succession planning.
  • Drive optimisation and efficiency in nursing care delivery across various specialities, focusing on workflow, outcomes, and resource utilisation.
  • Collaborate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of value-based care products that improve patient outcomes while managing costs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (B.Cur or equivalent),
  • Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management or Healthcare Leadership
  • A valid registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC)

DESIRED EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or Public Health, Certification in Quality or Risk Management
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in a senior nursing role (e.g., Nursing Manager)
  • Proven experience in clinical governance, quality management, and policy development.
  • Multisite or regional leadership experience

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in CSSD oversight or peri operative environments
  • Participation in value-based care initiatives or healthcare product design
