Job summary

SA Metal Group, a historic South African metal recycling leader, seeks a Regional IT Manager to lead the Cape Town IT team and drive infrastructure and security initiatives. You will manage operations, incidents, and regional projects across Western Cape, ensuring service delivery and compliance with group standards.

The role requires extensive IT infrastructure experience, strong leadership, and a proven ability to develop technical teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years IT infrastructure experience.
• Minimum 8 years direct line-management experience leading a medium-sized technical team.
• Proven track record building and developing technical teams including recruitment, performance management and staff development.
• Proficient in managing security, network and infrastructure projects and changes.

Responsibilities

• Take full management responsibility for the Cape Town IT team and service delivery across the region.
• Manage the team through objective-setting, performance reviews, and development plans.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, including standby roster, leave planning, and after-hours support.
• Run regional helpdesk triage and reporting to the Group IT Manager.
• Coordinate major-incident response and root-cause reporting.
• Manage servers, firewalls and network changes with documented rollback steps.
• Conduct estate health checks: backups, servers, VPNs, mail, CCTV, etc.
• Oversee branch connectivity and site visits across the Western Cape.
• Provide IT support for weighbridge and yard operations with defined响应 commitments.
• Deliver security workloads to group standards: MFA, patching, backups, AD hygiene.
• Coordinate with service providers and escalate as needed.
• Plan and deliver regional IT projects and rollouts.
• Maintain runbooks and post-incident reports.
