Your Purpose
Supporting 16 Virgin Active Social and Wellness Clubs in the KZN region by ensuring that they are compliant with Health and Safety Legislative and Global Standards.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate that Contractor files are reviewed and approved by the contracted Health and Safety consultant/company.
- Coordinate the implementation of all H&S policies and procedures for the region.
- Investigate all major and preventable incidents and assist in providing solutions.
- Conduct risk assessments and review that all clubs in the region have implemented mitigating measures.
- Facilitate Regional Health and Safety Committee meetings on a quarterly basis, auditing action points and discussing H&S issues, suggestions to management.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and manage all Health & Safety training in the region.
- Complete Health and Safety club visits.
- Compile reports on the compliance status of the region for the Regional Health and Safety Manager.
- Provide support and coaching to all functional areas of the business to ensure achievement of goals with due regard for Health and Safety.
- Conduct club visits twice a year at each club.
- Coordinate safety non-negotiable visits for the Region.
- Attend Regional Meetings as defined.
Minimum Requirements
- 1-3 years' experience within a similar role.
- Must possess valid Health and Safety short course certificates (SHE Representative, First Aid, Legal Liability, Construction Safety, OHS Act, etc.).
- Knowledge of safety procedures and risk management.
- Experience with Management Systems: ISO 14000, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, ISO 9000 (desirable).
- Knowledge and understanding of the OHS Act & regulations.
- Be a master trainer.
- Be outspoken, analytical, innovative, and able to work independently.
- Have a Code 8 driver’s license and be able to travel.
- 3+ years of managerial experience.
- General Health & Safety NEBOSH or SAMTRAC certificate.
