The ROLE:
The Regional Financial Manager is a key position as part of the local leadership team.
The role contributes to all areas of business performance and will provide strong financial leadership. The position is responsible for planning and coordinating regional budget and business planning activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices.
The incumbent will provide financial direction to the business and provide recommendations to improve overall business performance. Day to day management of the finance function, financial planning and analysis, treasury and tax.
This role reports to the Group CFO based in UK with a dotted line to the local General manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
- Collaborates with General Manager and senior management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis
- Management of the accounting organization: Oversee daily activities, ensures proper control environment is in place, manages team performance and accountable for team development.
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for site
- Analyse variances (Material/Labour/Overheads) and communicates explanations to management with recommended actions
- Calculating Activity Based Costing and Standard Costing and Pricing
- Prepare forecasts of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows for the region
- Must work across organisation boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve regional and corporate objectives while adhering to group rules and limits.
- Integrates and trains new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team
- Shares best practices across global finance/plant controller, e.g. process improvements, financial modelling and procedures changes
- Governance: Ensures local delegation of authorities and governance is implemented and enforced that is consistent with Group policies
- Monitor and implement plant internal controls (in compliance with group / corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
- Ensures proper accounting in accordance with Local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as local statutory requirements
- Responsible for the working capital management, cash forecasting and liaising with suppliers and customers to enhance and improve working capital management, cash collections, stretched payments etc.
- Lead year end Audit activities
- Deliver the expected EBITDA and cash for the South African business
- Reporting to the Group CFO and part of the Finance Leadership Team
- Leadership of the finance team onsite, including the group/SSC roles based in Paarl
- Line management and development of the finance team in Paarl
- Manage key external relationships – JV partner, Banking partners, Auditors, Credit insurers
- Working closely with Group finance teams and other stakeholders across the organisation
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Education / Qualification: CA (SA) (Chartered Accountant) preferred. Must at least be professional registered accountant / CIMA with completed articles.
- Experience: 10 years experience in a multinational organisation in Financial Manager / Controller role responsible within the manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in MS Office and ORACLE/SAGE/IFS financial software - experience with OneStream and Power BI systems is a bonus
- Strong financial control and reporting skills and rigorously ensuring that all statutory and corporate obligations are met Good planning and organizational skills
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to read, analyse, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries from the business.
- Ability to effectively communicate with management, public groups, peers and staff.
