Job summary

Mecad Systems in Durban seeks a seasoned procurement professional to lead hardware category strategies across Merchandise and Group objectives. You will develop and execute plans that align with market dynamics and retailer goals.

You will analyse trends, manage supplier partnerships, negotiate terms, drive pricing, promotions, and product ranging for existing and new stores, ensuring quality and profitability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Commercial, Supply Chain or Marketing Management.
• 5-10 years' procurement experience within the hardware retail environment.
• Strong supplier relationship management and customer-focused approach.
• In-depth understanding of retail supply, demand and market dynamics.
• Proven ability to develop and execute category strategies that drive sales, profitability and market share.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies aligned with Merchandise and Group objectives.
• Analyse market trends, sales performance and customer insights to identify growth opportunities
• Build and manage strategic supplier partnerships, including joint business planning and trade agreements.
• Lead pricing, promotional and ranging strategies to drive sales, profitability and market share
• Monitor supplier performance, quality, capacity and supply chain risks.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales and suppliers on category plans and product launches.
• Conduct supplier evaluations and factory visits to ensure quality, pricing and service standards.
• Negotiate dropshipment and retail gross profit targets.
• Drive house-brand launches, promotional killer deals and effective in-store execution.
• Provide product ranging leadership for existing and new stores
