Grow Great Campaign

Based in Midrand, Grow Great is a campaign aimed at galvanizing South Africa towards a national commitment to zero stunting. We are recruiting a Programme Lead for the campaign's Grow Great Champions (GGC) Programme.

The GGC seeks to affirm, support, and celebrate Community Health Workers (CHWs) for their leadership and vital work in the home through informal communities of practice called Grow Great Champions clubs, supported by a virtual resource hub with content tailored for CHWs.

This opt-in club and resource hub provides CHWs with training opportunities on first 1,000-day interventions to improve maternal and child health, performance-based incentives, and access to a social network for peer recognition and support.

Position: Johannesburg-based Programme Lead

The Programme Lead will provide strategic direction to the CHW programme, reporting to the Deputy Executive Director. Responsibilities include:

1. Strategic direction of GGC, including establishing a virtual community of practice and rolling out a digital app and resource hub (CHW Connect).
2. Designing strategies to mobilize CHWs around reducing stunting.
3. Overseeing onboarding, training, and resourcing of GGC-supported CHWs to deliver quality nutrition, health, and social support interventions.
4. Collaborating with the communications team to develop effective communication strategies related to GGC.
5. Managing GGC staff, consultants, service providers, and suppliers.
6. Overseeing the financial management of the GGC budget.
7. Supporting the implementation of the overall Grow Great campaign and achieving its targets.

Success in this role requires being an active team player, flexible, and supportive across campaign strategies.

Qualifications & Characteristics:

• Registered health professional or Master's in Public Health.
• Previous experience within the public health system and with CHWs.
• At least 5 years of programme management experience, including monitoring and evaluation, digital health, budgeting, and performance management.
• Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours.
• Strong work ethic, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Experience working in teams, high performance mindset, and ability to self-direct.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Commitment to Grow Great's values and social justice.
• Based in Midrand, Johannesburg, with own vehicle.
