REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN (WESTERN CAPE)

CLIENT in the FMCG INDUSTRY requires the services of a REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN at their branch in the WESTERN CAPE as soon as possible.

POSITION INFO :

The purpose of this role is to perform Preventative and Corrective maintenance on all Refrigeration equipment (Ammonia and other relevant gas systems) and Heating and Ventilation Air Conditioning system (HVAC) equipment on-board the Ships, the Ice Plant and facilities.

Key Performance Areas :

1. Repairs and maintenance on ammonia refrigeration equipment – On Ships and Land based.
2. Repairs and maintenance on refrigeration equipment other than ammonia – On Ships and Land Based.
3. Repairs and maintenance on Spiral freezers as well as plate freezers.
4. Repairs and maintenance on ice plant and slurry ice makers.
5. Repairs and maintenance on minor electrical installations.
6. Install parts such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, filters, switches, controls and gauges.
7. Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
8. Maintain related records concerning time, labour and materials; maintain log of tasks.
9. Perform and write reports as required.
10. Test non-ammonia systems for leaks and then fill them with refrigerant according to relevant standards and regulations.
11. Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including boilers, gas and electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs; service and repair evaporative coolers.
12. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, test equipment utilized in the trade and a motor vehicle; maintain equipment in an effective and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory.

Minimum Requirements :

Experience :

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Refrigeration Technician working with Ammonia.

Qualifications :

Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4.

Artisan, Refrigeration Technician, Millwright, Electrical / Mechanical experience.
