Referral Coordinator - Animal Hospital

We are looking for a Referral Coordinator at our veterinary specialist centre to join our team.

We are a specialist 24-hour veterinary hospital and referral centre.

What is a referral hospital?

Vets from around the country refer patient cases to us to seek specialist advice from our highly skilled specialist surgeons.

The Ideal Candidate will act as a liaison between specialists, patients’ owners, clinical staff, and insurance providers. The suitable veterinary Referral Coordinator candidate must provide outstanding client service, be capable of multitasking, and have the ability to communicate effectively. We are looking for a coordinator with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and a friendly and professional demeanor.

Duties include but are not limited to:

1. Manage and coordinate all aspects of the referral process, receiving and reviewing requests and verifying patient eligibility to provide appropriate clinical information to specialists.
2. Assist referring veterinarians with any aspect of the referral process.
3. Provide cost estimates to clients and referring veterinarians.
4. Assist with patient follow-up care and advice.
5. Expedite patient referrals to specialty departments.
6. Liaise with insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met and assist clients with the claims process.
7. Schedule appointments and coordinate necessary tests or procedures with specific reference to scheduling advanced imaging such as MRI or CT off-site.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records and documentation.

Experience as a receptionist in a veterinary environment is preferred. This is a full-time position.
