Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Defence Talent Sourcing & Recruitment

  • Identify, attract, and engage top engineering professionals across mechanical, electrical, systems, aerospace, and defence-related disciplines using a variety of sourcing tools and platforms.
  • Build and maintain strong talent pipelines across critical skillsets such as systems engineering, embedded software, electronics, and manufacturing for defence and advanced engineering programmes.
  • Develop tailored sourcing strategies in alignment with business objectives and industry trends in engineering and defence sectors.
  • Review and assess technical CVs, security clearances, and project experience to ensure alignment with highly regulated and specialist roles.
  • Manage candidate communications throughout the recruitment lifecycle, ensuring a seamless and professional experience—especially in security-cleared environments.
  • Represent and enhance the employer brand within specialist engineering communities, defence networks, and industry forums.

Stakeholder & Process Management

  • Partner closely with hiring managers, engineering leads, and programme teams to understand role requirements, project timelines, and security clearance needs.
  • Collaborate across departments to implement effective workforce planning strategies, including ramp-up for defence programmes or engineering product cycles.
  • Stay up to date on defence sector regulations, engineering standards, and market trends to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with industry-specific requirements (e.g. ITAR, MOD standards) and support hiring processes in line with security protocols.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of recruitment operations, tools, and reporting processes.

Qualifications & Competencies

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience in engineering, aerospace, or defence sectors.
  • Familiarity with hiring for roles requiring security clearance (e.g. SC, DV) and compliance with defence industry standards.
  • Proven success in sourcing candidates for highly technical roles across hardware and software disciplines.
  • Ability to prioritise competing recruitment demands across fast-paced engineering programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with technical and operational teams.
  • High level of discretion when handling sensitive or classified information.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a focus on workforce planning and hard-to-fill roles.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ATS platforms such as Bullhorn, Avionté, or JobAdder.
  • Advanced knowledge of sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and understanding of Boolean search.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific databases, job boards, and defence hiring networks.

Education & Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, HR, Business, or related).
  • Previous experience supporting engineering or defence-related hiring in an in-house, agency, or RPO environment.
