Job description

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Recovery Worker who is compassionate and supportive with great listening, organisational, and communication skills.

Working as a Recovery Worker, you will be part of a dedicated, passionate, and professional team who cares about their work and makes a real difference in the lives of people in the City of London.

You will support and contribute to the recovery, social inclusion, and improvement of the quality of life of all service users in the City of London and Hackney borough.

The charity seeks an individual experienced in working in a recovery-oriented and non-judgmental manner. You will lead community research on local issues affecting substance use, enabling better targeting of resources to meet unmet needs in different localities.

DUTIES

  • Hold a caseload to support people recovering from addiction and prevent substance use
  • Deliver the charity’s psychosocial interventions (PSI)
  • Facilitate and deliver PSI therapeutic group programmes to clients
  • Develop strength-based, person-centred, and individualised recovery plans based on comprehensive assessments
  • Involve individuals and their families or advocates in care planning
  • Complete accurate, person-centred risk assessments
  • Hold regular key work sessions
  • Provide person-centred care respecting individuals’ rights, preferences, and choices in a safe and dignified environment
  • Administer prescriptions following policies and client needs
  • Maintain a safe environment free from abuse or neglect, observing safeguarding practices
  • Identify and promote opportunities for community engagement (employment, training, volunteering)
  • Review and monitor recovery plans to ensure relevance of interventions
  • Participate in supervision and team meetings

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Ability to work in a recovery-oriented, person-centred, non-judgmental manner
  • Experience in gaining feedback on client experiences of services
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults framework and safe practice procedures
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills adaptable to various situations
  • Resilient and adaptable to challenging environments

DESIRABLE

  • Experience facilitating groups and presentations
  • Report writing skills

DBS clearance at Enhanced level (with Barring) is required for this role.
