Receiving Clerk
Job description
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for receiving all stock delivered by Suppliers.
- Ensure that the correct quantities of stock are taken into the business and allocated to the correct departments for merchandising.
- Physical checks of stock received must be carried out.
- Ensure barcodes are correct and easy to read on all products before taking stock in.
- Collaborate with procurement staff to ensure an accurate list of expected deliveries.
- Receive shipments, sign off the paperwork and make sure the paperwork is dispatched correctly.
- Unload stock from incoming trucks to inspect the contents, ensuring stock is undamaged.
- Verify packages according to order and invoices.
- High level of detail and basic math skills required.
- Physical strength to unload shipments as well as clerical skills to update records.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Receive, inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders.
- Record and enter data related to received goods onto SAP system.
- Address any discrepancies in received goods.
- Reconcile stock counts and address any discrepancies.
- Must possess a high level of commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work "front of house" in the main store, with in-depth understanding of the systems.
Skills:
- Good communication skills.
- Computer literate - SAP, Microsoft Office, Google.
- Solid numeracy skills.
- Supplier relations experience.
- Good attention to detail.
- Previous retail experience essential.
- Good work ethic.
- Strong team player.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- At least 5 years experience as a Receiving Manager in the retail sector.
- Valid driver's licence and own car essential.
- SAP experience essential.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to work over weekends and public holidays, as required.
- Ability to work "front of house".
