Job description

We are looking for candidate to receive, check (quality and quantity), and store general merchandise within dedicated locations in the warehouse in an efficient, accurate and coordinated manner, adhering strictly to warehouse SOP. Adhere to the administrative processes of merchandise receiving, as well as housekeeping standards and SOP as well as assist in stock control and audit processes, and stock control as per SOP. Minimise stock losses, variances, and returns in own area of responsibility.

Receiving Preparation & Coordination Effectiveness

Collaborate with procurement staff to list and schedule expected deliveries on a daily basis. Prepare for incoming deliveries to ensure that accurate inspection, labelling and counts are produced. Record the total time needed to receive and move items through to warehouse and monitor the number of deliveries coming into the warehouse and manage workload accordingly. Ensure space availability at receiving area to ensure maximum capacity and efficiency.

Receiving Integrity

Receive merchandise, counting batches, checked against documentation

Unload deliveries from incoming trucks. Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, size, price and expiry date). Sign for deliveries, checks delivery content against the invoice and address/resolves any problems with deliveries accordingly. Check invoice to ensure all items are accounted for. Ensure all stock has been second checked by the warehouse. Unpack, examine incoming deliveries, reject and note/record/report defective or damaged items. Ensure that all products are labelled according to Kerston Foods Standards. Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged. Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, and quality of the products.

Stock Control and Verification

Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control. Record product movement. Ensure items have appropriate codes by marking items using labelling equipment. Ensure stock received is packed properly and neatly on pallets. Ensure full traceability of all products received into the warehouse

Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses. Files and update all written documentation such as the invoices and purchase orders for auditing purposes. Record each item received, the exact quantity received and the warehouse location. Receiving error reporting by the supplier, such as incorrect qualities, the wrong product or paperwork mistakes. Ensure all paperwork reaches procurement timeously. Raise any discrepancies with procurement.

Warehouse Ad Hoc Duties/Assistance

Assist with stock movement, ensuring accuracy of actual against record. Check stock locations in line with requirements. Update stock documentation and records when required from time to time (e.g. due to damaged-in-storage products). Take part in verification exercises, e.g. with despatch &/or procurement, ensuring efficient & accurate completion of own responsibilities.

Assist dispatch to load trucks.

Assist warehouse with stock takes, Picking, replenishing and staging

Warehouse house keeping

If you obtain a Hyster or reach truck license, you will be required to operate Hyster and reach trucks

Food Safety

Ensure personal appearance and uniform is compliant with food safety requirements. Maintain safe working environment according to company food safety procedures. Familiarise yourself with the food safety rules and hazards and report any risk. Comply with food safety rules of no stock on the floor, no stock against walls, etc. Report any observation of pests and non-conformance.

Health and Safety

Ensure all exterior doors are closed and locked when not in use. All warehouse equipment is kept in good working condition. Report all repairs and maintenance in writing. Allow only authorised personnel to enter work areas. Maintain safe working environment according to company procedures. Raise alert to any hazards with regards to Health and Safety

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Grade 12

1 year certificate level or short training, warehousing/ supply chain studies would be a significant advantage.

2 to 3 years’ experience in warehouse operations in medium to large scale Receiving/ Warehouse/ Logistics or similar role

Proven experience as receiver or similar position

Stores and stock handling experience advantageous

Forklift experience is required, with valid licence.

Knowledge and experience in safety practices and procedures applicable to receiving of food products.

FMCG experience highly advantageous
