Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Operations Geologist for our Rustenburg team. You will provide real-time geological support during drilling, interpret cores, cuttings, and logs, and help steer well targets and trajectories with the drilling engineers.

The role requires 5+ years in operations geology within Oil & Gas, strong mapping/modeling/log analysis skills, and excellent communication. A hybrid work arrangement balances remote analysis with on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Geology or Earth Science.
5+ years of experience in operations geology in Oil & Gas.
Proficiency in mapping, modeling, and log analysis software.
Hybrid work environment experience or adaptability.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time geological support during drilling operations, interpreting cores, cuttings, and logs.
Develop and update geological models and maps based on drilling progress.
Collaborate with drilling teams to define optimal well targets, trajectories, and casing points.
Conduct formation evaluation and assess reservoir potential.
Communicate geological information clearly to engineers, management and stakeholders.
Contribute to post-drilling analysis and lessons learned.
