Role Purpose

Our Insights business is built on industry-leading data assets, cutting-edge data science, and our ability to deliver holistic insights at scale. Our data is powered by over 26 million households across South Africa's #1 Retailer, with over 1 billion transactions across brick-and-mortar and ecommerce. We combine this customer data with advanced analytics and research to drive sales growth and customer loyalty for our business and Insights clients.

Within this context, the Retail Media Insights Analysts will leverage Shoprite's data assets to generate insights on retail media performance and provide deep-dives for Rainmaker Media clients. This role acts as a business point of contact to translate insights into recommendations and partners with the business, particularly the Rainmaker Media sales team, to explore sales/campaign opportunities, planning, and optimization.

Candidates should have a strong ability to connect data and insights to tell stories, a problem-solving mindset, and a passion for client growth. They must demonstrate a growth mindset, adaptability, and industry knowledge of retail and consumer goods.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Support the collection, analysis, and interpretation of Rainmaker Media data from various sources (advertising platforms, media monitoring tools, market research).
  2. Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement through media data and campaign performance analysis.
  3. Ensure data integrity in all insights and analyses.
  4. Assist the Rainmaker Media team in understanding, presenting, and utilizing insights to impact media business growth.
  5. Partner with the Rainmaker Media Sales team as a category insights expert, generating actionable insights for categories and brands.
  6. Provide campaign insights, performance metrics, and post-campaign analysis to inform planning and customer lifecycle strategies.
  7. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and presentations; communicate key insights and recommended actions to stakeholders.
  8. Understand problem statements, perform root cause analysis, and articulate findings in business language.
  9. Create data-driven insights presentations aligned with business goals.
  10. Assist in developing media plans aligned with campaign objectives and target audiences.
  11. Support media measurement frameworks, tracking, and tagging methodologies.
  12. Participate in post-campaign analysis and prepare comprehensive performance reports with key learnings.
  13. Stay updated on industry trends, measurement tools, and methodologies to enhance analysis capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or related field (essential).
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role, such as buying or category management (beneficial).
  • Experience in media analysis, data analytics, or related marketing/advertising roles (beneficial).
  • Hands-on analytics experience in generating actionable insights and conducting deep-dives.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with management, partners, and clients.
  • Skilled in translating data into digestible insights for campaigns and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with storytelling ability.
