A leading engineering firm is seeking a Non-Key Expert: Rails Scheme Lead to support the implementation of the JETP South Africa Transnet Decarbonisation Framework Loan project. Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in rail infrastructure, preferably freight.
• At least 3 years of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Involvement in 2 feasibility studies related to rail infrastructure.
• Experience in feasibility studies, detailed design or tender documentation for rail projects in the past 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead as Non-Key Expert (Rails Scheme Lead) for the JETP South Africa project.
• Coordinate preparatory studies, detailed design and tender documentation related to rail infrastructure.
• Support the core project team in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa contexts.

Job description

NTU International A/S is leading a consortium for the implementation of the EIB funded project called: JETP South Africa Transnet Decarbonisation Framework Loan and is searching for experts to support the core team during the implementation of this project.

Location: South Africa.

Duration: Q3 2026.

Non-Key Expert: Rails Scheme Lead (per Scheme)

Minimum Qualifications and skills:

• University degree in civil/electrical/mechanical engineering in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
• Proficiency in oral and written English language.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in rail infrastructure, preferably freight, of which at least 3 years preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Working experience in South Africa is an added advantage.
• Involvement in a minimum of 2 preparatory studies (feasibility studies, detailed design, tender documentation) related to rail infrastructure in the past 10 years.
• Experience in freight rail that is carbon-friendly is considered as an advantage.
• Involvement in a minimum of 1 rail project in a developing country, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa, financed by EU, EIB or other IFI’s in the past 10 years.
