PROJECT MANAGER- RAIL INFTRASTRUCTURE
Pretoria | Fixed-Term Contract: 6 to 12 Months | Immediate Availability Required
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage a rail infrastructure project based in Pretoria.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a fixed-term contract of between 6 and 12 months, depending on project requirements and performance, and must be available to commence immediately.
Responsibilities
- Manage the project from mobilization through execution, commissioning, handover, and close-out.
- Develop and maintain project programme, budgets, resource plans, risk registers, and recovery plans.
- Monitor progress against the approved baseline programme and implement corrective action where required.
- Administer the project in accordance with the applicable JBCC or GCC contract Manage contractual notices, variations, claims, extension-of-time submissions, payment matters, and formal correspondence.
- Manage client expectations and maintain effective relationships with rail customers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal departments. Ensure compliance with contractual, technical, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly project reports.
- Ensure the project is delivered safely, within budget, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc Degree or BTech in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related qualification.
- Recognized Project Management qualification.
- Minimum of 10 years’ project management experience* within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience delivering railway or rail-related infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience working with rail clients, operators, engineers, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Practical experience in the administration and management of JBCC and GCC contracts
- Strong knowledge of project planning, programme management, cost control, risk management, quality management, claims, variations, and contract administration.
- Experience managing extension-of-time matters, contractual notices, site instructions, and project correspondence.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and client interfaces.
- Sound understanding of construction health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar project planning software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, reporting, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Must be based in, or willing to work in, Pretoria.
- Must be available to start immediately.
