Role Summary:
This position is responsible for conducting and interpreting diagnostic imaging, particularly mammography and CT scans, using AI-supported radiology platforms. The Radiologist will deliver fast, accurate reports and collaborate with clinical teams to support integrated care.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and interpret mammograms using DBT and CEDM on Fujifilm AMULET Innovality
Conduct and interpret CT scans using Fujifilm FCT iStream, CSL, and ECG Ivy7800 systems
Review X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and mammography images with AI assistance
Validate and finalise AI-generated findings for radiology reports
Submit reports remotely through secure PACS and RIS platforms
Collaborate with referring physicians and clinical teams, especially for breast and CT imaging
Optimise reporting workflows using AI to prioritise cases and reduce turnaround times
Maintain quality assurance and radiation safety standards in line with HPCSA guidelines
Uphold patient privacy and compliance with POPIA regulations
Provide compassionate communication during patient procedures where necessary
Participate in continuous professional development and internal quality programs
Qualifications:
MBChB or equivalent from an HPCSA-accredited institution
MMed Radiology or FC Rad (SA) qualification
Completion of internship and community service
HPCSA registration as a Specialist Radiologist
Valid HPCSA annual practicing certificate
Experience:
1-3 years post-specialisation experience in diagnostic radiology
Experience with mammography, CT scanning, and AI-assisted imaging
Familiarity with AMULET Innovality, FCT iStream, CSL, and ECG Ivy7800 preferred
Teleradiology experience advantageous
Skills:
Expertise in multimodal image interpretation
Proficiency in PACS and RIS systems
Ability to assess and verify AI-detected anomalies
Clear written and verbal communication of medical findings
Strong clinical judgment and attention to diagnostic detail
Commitment to accuracy and clinical excellence
Adaptability in digital and remote environments
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Cultural sensitivity and professionalism
Engagement in continuous learning and CPD
Regulatory and Compliance Requirements:
Maintain active HPCSA registration and CPD compliance
Adhere to POPIA for handling patient imaging data
Comply with Department of Health radiation safety protocols
Participate in audit and peer-review procedures
Working Conditions:
Based on-site or remote (for teleradiology)
Rotational shifts including weekends, evenings, and on-call availability
High volume of image review at a digital workstation
Must adhere to professional dress and hygiene standards
Compensation:
