Job description

DESCRIPTION

The Alarm Communicator division within Product requires the services of a Radio Technician to analyze, fault find, and do basic repairs to VHF and GSM radios.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Compulsory:
    • PC Literate
    • Well-defined fault finding ability
    • Ability to work independently and self-motivated
    • Sound knowledge of GSM and VHF radios
    • Working knowledge of GSM and VHF networks and backhaul
    • Basic electronic knowledge (N1 or equivalent)
    • Knowledge of electronic testing equipment
    • Basic handyman skills
    • Strong attention to detail
  • Beneficial:
    • Knowledge of board-level repairs
    • Working knowledge of Listener
    • Understanding of warehousing practices
    • Basic knowledge of SAP

JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying radio types (VHF/GSM) as well as Fidelity ADT owned radios
  • Cataloguing radios for specific regions
  • Recommending radios that are too old for use to be scrapped
  • Testing, analyzing, and fault finding on radios
  • Performing basic repairs to the chassis and circuit boards of radios
  • Maintaining an inventory of spares
  • Journaling radios into stock per Decoder Base
  • Locating and deactivating radios from clients on Listener
