Job Description
Leading all research related to APC solutions, including modelling of complex processes.
Identify and lead opportunities for technology development and commercialization.
Play a support and leading role in research projects and the development of products.
Ensure that projects are executed on time and within budget.
Ensure that SHEQ procedures are strictly adhered to and that project work is executed with maximum overall technical efficiency.
Makes technical decisions having an impact on the research direction and outcomes within the Division and Mintek.
Develops a specialist research area.
Works with complex assignments that require high levels of integration between multidisciplinary fields.
Leads technology trends in the area of specialisation at a national level.
Transforms opportunities into proposals for funded research.
Operational : Finds the best way to develop new technologies / instruments and / or provide a service – Process / Discipline level.
Prepares reports, presentations, and publications at the level of an experienced professional.
Leads, guides, mentors, and trains staff under direct supervision.
Participates in guiding the strategic direction of the business.
PhD in a relevant Engineering field : Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical related to automation, model predictive control, fault detection & control, Industry 4.0 technology, and communication hardware & software—related to the work of the Measurement and Control Division.
At least 6 years' experience in research or knowledge-based organisations, with a minimum of 6 months in managing people, RDI, and / or commercialisation.
Evidence of prototyping, commercialisation of products, and accreditation of methods will be an advantage.
Must be familiar with MATLAB or Python (prototyping of algorithms).
Experience in Research / Data Analysis roles.
