Placements24 is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join its R&D team in Stellenbosch. You will conceptualize, design, and prototype new mechanical systems for early-stage product development, working alongside researchers and engineers in a vibrant innovation hub.

The role focuses on translating ideas into functional concepts, creating CAD models, building prototypes, and validating designs through testing and iterations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in product design and development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
• Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing) and basic lab testing.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and material properties.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design mechanical systems for new product development.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings to meet performance specs.
• Build and test prototypes, iterate designs based on results.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations of concepts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration.
