Placements24 is seeking an innovative Research and Development Chemical Engineer to join its Bloemfontein-based R&D department. This role focuses on exploring new chemical processes, developing novel materials, and scaling up laboratory discoveries to pilot and commercial production.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and have experience in process development, scale-up, and reaction engineering.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering required.
• Experience in R&D, process development, or scale-up.
• Strong background in reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation technologies.
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
• Experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis tools.
• Excellent scientific curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot plant studies to develop and optimize new chemical processes and products.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and develop mathematical models to describe process behavior.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including chemists, material scientists, and other engineers, to achieve project goals.
• Develop scale-up strategies and design pilot-scale equipment for testing new processes.
• Write detailed technical reports, research papers, and patent applications.
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and technological trends in the chemical engineering field.
