R and D Manager

The primary objective of this position is to lead the technology strategy and innovation through the development of products within the organisation. The R&D Manager will support and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, draftsmen, software developers, and project managers to ensure organizational needs are achieved while managing both internal and external customer relationships and expectations.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the technical aspects of the company to ensure alignment with the company's growth targets.
2. Introduce and nurture a culture of innovation within the organisation while maintaining a long-term view on the use of technology for innovation.
3. Work with stakeholders across the business, advocating for and distilling technical requirements.
4. Structure and manage the R&D team to meet business goals, including hiring R&D personnel as required.
5. Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with Marketing and Operations.
6. Lead and drive projects to support business goals through leadership and focus of the R&D team, individual project development teams, and individuals.
7. Mentor, guide, and motivate the team to create sustainable depth within the department.
8. Define new technologies, products, and processes.
9. Identify and manage key suppliers/technology partners.
10. Develop concepts, products, and solutions.
11. Develop and monitor team metrics and objectives to ensure goals are met.
12. Suggest training tools to enhance employee performance and skill development.
13. Document all phases of New Project Introduction using the correct development procedures.
14. Understand both internal & external customer expectations along with R&D team capabilities.
15. Manage internal & external customer relationships and expectations.
16. Establish and maintain IT systems to support business objectives.

Requirements:

1. S4 Diploma in Electronic Engineering, OR BSc Electronic Engineering, OR BSc Computer Engineering.
2. Minimum of 10 years’ experience within an R&D environment.
3. Proven track record of previous results and improvements.
4. Experience in automotive and informatics technologies.
5. Secure Cloud computing experience.
6. Hands-on experience with complex project management.
