MSA Outsourcing Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our UK team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing costs and contracts associated with construction projects, ensuring that they are completed within budget and to the highest standards of quality. Your expertise will be crucial in providing strategic advice to optimize the financial and operational aspects of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare competitive tenders, cost plans, and commercial submissions across a range of projects.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, site information, and contract conditions to ensure accurate pricing and risk consideration.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop tender strategies that enhance competitiveness and profitability.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and commercial advantages to strengthen proposals.
  • Present and clarify tender submissions, commercial qualifications, and pricing approaches.
  • Support negotiation and final agreement of contract terms with clients and subcontractors.
  • Assist in drafting subcontract scopes, procurement schedules, and other commercial documentation.
  • Prepare detailed handover packs for the project delivery team, ensuring consistency between tender commitments and site execution plans.
  • Contribute to initial project budgeting and early-stage financial planning.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for construction projects.
  • Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and provide monthly forecasts to stakeholders.
  • Manage the valuation and certification of work completed on-site.
  • Assess contractor quotations and negotiate prices to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to optimize project expenditure.
  • Resolve cost discrepancies and advise on contractual issues with suppliers or subcontractors.
  • Maintain awareness of market pricing, supply chain trends, and project benchmarks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and the supply chain to secure future opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project success.
  • Support ad-hoc administrative tasks as required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction or property sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent; MRICS chartered status or working towards is preferred.
  • Proficient in industry-standard QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and value engineering skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, independently and collaboratively.
  • Solid understanding of construction contracts, financial management, and project delivery.
  • Proactive problem‑solving approach with a focus on cost control and optimization.
