A reputable automotive company in Kariega is seeking a Quality Technician to ensure product quality. Responsibilities include developing measuring systems, conducting evaluations, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a Trade Test Certificate, and relevant experience in the automotive industry. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in CAD software are essential.
Our client in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry is currently looking to employ a Quality Technician, based in Kariega.
Responsibilities:
Develop, introduce, monitor, and maintain measuring systems to ensure product quality according to national and international standards.
Analyse, coordinate, and implement corrective actions for reported quality discrepancies to provide efficient and timely service.
Maintain and calibrate measuring equipment, gauges, and torque testing instruments to ensure compliance with ISO17025 and internal standards.
Conduct dimensional evaluation of components for series measurements, first-off samples, final approvals, BMG testing, audit fault investigations, field complaints, and supplier development.
Prepare and provide measurement and SPC data to support management decision-making and evaluations.
Train, assist, and supervise trainees, junior technicians, and new employees to develop a skilled metrology team.
Ensure all measuring equipment and systems are accurately maintained and adhere to international calibration standards throughout their service life.
Requirements:
National Diploma or NN Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Trade Test Certificate as a Toolmaker.
3 to 5 years of relevant experience in an automotive environment.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience with parts, assemblies alignment, set-up, and dimensional evaluation.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge and understanding of Metrology Symbols and Elements (VIM).
Practical experience with dimensional measuring equipment and instruments.
Ability to interpret 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
Knowledge of communication between measuring facilities and software.
CMM or CNC programming experience.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and innovative thinking skills.
Excellent presentation, reporting, and communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and make independent decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
