Brief Role Description

The purpose of the function is to develop, define, and plan suitable measures to meet customer requirements regarding quality through prevention of problems and continuous improvement of products and services within an acceptable timeframe. This function is accountable for quality features & standards within a specific group, including dimensional evaluation of components for series measurements, first-off samples, final approval, BMG testing, audit fault investigations, field complaints, supplier development, calibration of gauges, measuring instruments, and torque testing instruments.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Develop, introduce, monitor, and maintain measuring systems to provide a quality and proactive service against national and international standards for internal and external customers, ensuring product quality. Analyze, initiate, coordinate, and implement corrective actions to address discrepancies, ensuring timely and efficient customer service within quality standards. Maintain measuring equipment to adhere to international and company standards. Assist, train, and supervise trainees, junior technicians, and new employees to build a strong metrology team providing world-class measuring services. Prepare and supply measurement and SPC data for management decisions. Calibrate company fixtures, gauges, measuring and torque testing instruments, maintaining their history to ensure accuracy throughout their service life, in accordance with ISO17025.

Qualification Requirements

National Diploma/NN Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, and a Trade Test Certificate as a Tool Maker.

Experience Needed

Minimum of 3-5 years relevant automotive industry experience, with at least 2 years in parts, assemblies’ alignment, setup, and dimensional evaluation.

Essentials

Good knowledge of metrology symbols & elements (VIM), practical experience with dimensional measuring equipment & instruments, 3D interpretation of CAD models and drawings, understanding of measurement software communication, CMM or CNC programming skills, strong presentation and report writing skills, ability to work under pressure independently, decision-making and prioritization skills, excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office & CAD, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
