Job summary

Pty in Mpumalanga seeks a mid‑level Quality Officer to lead the implementation and supervision of the Employer’s quality system for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, biomass and hydro). You will support Project Engineers and site teams to meet client specifications and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities include coordinating construction activities, auditing contractor quality systems, maintaining QA documentation, and assisting commissioning with the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Applicable technical tertiary qualifications related to Civil or Electrical Engineering.
• Industry specific qualifications or certification.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification would be advantageous.
• 10+ years in Quality Officer or supervisory role.
• Experience with renewable energy projects preferred; cross-discipline experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise construction works, ensuring client specifications are met and progress is tracked.
• Assist site team regarding compliance with policies, procedures and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
• Manage contractor quality systems and revise site quality documentation as directed.
• Capture quality data from site reports and contractor uploads into SharePoint.
• Guide site teams to monitor contractor quality plans in line with contracts.
• Audit contractor quality systems as directed by Project Manager or Quality Engineer.
• Maintain QA documentation and ensure traceability of quality aspects.
• Assist commissioning phase coordination with Project Manager and O&M team.
• Ensure all Employer requirements are fulfilled before final completion.

Job Purpose

Preparation and supervision of implementation of Employer’s quality system for the construction of renewable energy projects solar, wind, biomass and hydro) including quality system for Owner’s Engineer role; Support to Project Engineers on renewable energy projects (solar, wind, biomass and hydro). Support to Project Site Construction works and activities on Tournee.

Responsibilities

General

• Foster and lead a corporate culture that promotes sustainable ethical practices, encourages individual integrity and fulfils social responsibility objectives and imperatives;
• Recommend policy and procedure improvement;
• Ensure overall implementation and compliance to all the internal Policy and Procedures of the Company, including compliance with Corporate ESMS (Environmental, Social, Management System), IFC Standards and Equator Principles; Contractors Quality Management system (QMS) and Project Quality Plan (PQP)
• Carry out duties in a proper, loyal and efficient manner to the best of their ability and at all times act in good faith and use their best endeavors to properly conduct, improve, extend, develop, promote, protect and preserve the business interests, reputation and goodwill of the Company and not do anything or engage in any activity which is or may become harmful or contrary to such interests;
• Immediately disclose to the Employer any information which comes to their knowledge, and which does, or may, lead to them not being lawfully able to perform their duties or responsibilities.

Execution Phase (Construction)

• In support of the Project Manager and Project/Quality Engineers, coordinating and supervising construction works, ensure that the client’s specifications and requirements are met, review progress and liaise with the Employer’s site team;
• Assist the site team regarding compliance with company policies, procedures, Quality requirements, as well as regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
• Overall responsible for managing the Contractors project quality system and revising Employer’s site quality documentation as directed.
• Quality related data capturing of site generated daily reports and contractor document uploads into Share Point.
• Overall responsible for guiding the Employer’s site team to monitor the contractors’ implementation of their own quality systems and plans, in line with the requirements in the construction contracts.
• Support Employer’s responsibilities relating to quality supervision and to audit contractor’s quality systems as directed by the Project Manager or Quality Engineer.
• Perform periodically contractor data pack audits to ensure conformity with the contractor and employers project quality plans.
• Maintain quality control procedures and documentation related to site works, ensuring effective traceability of all aspects effecting Quality.
• Assist the Commissioning phase of the project in coordination with the Project Manager, Commissioning Manager and O&M team.
• Ensure all the contract and Employer’s requirements are fulfilled before the final completion is released.

Requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications

• Applicable technical tertiary qualifications related to Civil or Electrical Engineering.
• Industry specific qualifications or certification.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification would be advantageous.

Minimum Previous Experience

• 10+ years as a Quality Officer / Supervisory role.
• Expertise in renewable energy projects is preferred; Direct experience working with civil, electrical, mechanical and any other built infrastructure environment.
• South African citizen is preferred
