Job description

Introduction
VRH Power, focusing on renewable energy and based in Centurion, is looking for Quality Officers to specialize in Substations and Overhead Lines. These positions will be site based.
The Quality Officers will ensure that all construction activities on site are executed in accordance with the Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP), client specifications, contractual obligations, and applicable standards and regulations (such as ISO 9001:2015). The Quality Officer supports quality control inspections, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure defect-free project delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Quality Control Inspections:
    • Conduct routine inspections on civil, mechanical, and electrical construction activities.
    • Verify compliance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and approved drawings.
    • Monitor workmanship and material quality across all phases of construction.
  • Documentation & Recordkeeping:
    • Ensure completion and filing of Quality Control Check Sheets, Inspection Reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
    • Maintain up-to-date site quality files and logs including materials certifications, calibration records, and supplier data packs.
  • Non-Conformance Management:
    • Identify, report, and track non-conformities.
    • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.
    • Follow up to ensure timely closure of NCRs and improvement notices.
  • Coordination & Communication:
    • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives to ensure quality expectations are clearly communicated and maintained.
    • Participate in quality toolbox talks and promote awareness among site personnel.
  • Testing & Verification:
    • Ensure all required hold and witness points are observed as per the ITP.
    • Coordinate third-party and client inspections where required.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist in implementation.
    • Contribute to lessons learned and feedback into future project quality planning.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
    • Work in collaboration with HSE teams to ensure integrated compliance.
    • Stop any activity that poses a risk to safety, quality, or the environment.
Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements:

    • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a quality role on construction projects (FTQ 360 experience advantageous).
    • Experience working with Eskom or within the renewable energy sector (advantageous)
    • Sound knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
    • Experience with QCPs, ITPs, and related construction documentation.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office, QMS systems).
