Job summary

A global energy company is seeking a Quality Site Manager to oversee quality workstreams in renewable energy projects. This role includes leading the QA/QC team, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and managing audits. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, at least 5 years of quality management experience, and strong communication skills. A driver's license is also required. The position is located in the remote sites of Northern Cape, South Africa.

Job description

Context & Environment

TotalEnergies' gross low-carbon power generation capacity worldwide is currently close to 10 gigawatts. The company targets 35 GW of renewable generation capacity by 2025 and aims to expand further to become a leading international player in renewable energies with a goal of 100 GW by 2030.

Activities

Ideally, as a Quality Site Manager, you would possess the following:

  1. Previous experience in Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Programme (REIPPPP) Project Bidding, Award to Financial Close, Construction, and Operations.
  2. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is recommended.
  3. Minimum 5 years of Quality management experience in the power generation industry.
  4. Fluency in English with strong written and oral communication skills.
  5. Experience with managing field engineering, inspection, and NDE related to all QA/QC functions.
  6. Ability to develop and manage non-conformance, deficiencies, and reporting programs, including root cause analysis.
  7. Quality Culture behaviors such as rigorous, systematic, prudent approach, questioning attitude, and good communication as an example for the organization.
  8. Understanding of ISO 9001 and related Quality Standards and concepts.
  9. Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is preferred.
  10. Experience performing audits is an asset.
  11. Willingness to be located on remote sites.
  12. Driver's license.
Candidate Profile

The main purpose of this position is to oversee all EPC quality workstreams to ensure installations are completed on schedule, within engineering specifications, and approved by qualified inspectors.

  1. Lead QA/QC Team (Project Company and Owner's Engineer) to manage quality of works, including Factor Testing & Inspection.
  2. Review, agree, and monitor the EPC Project Quality Plan.
  3. Communicate the quality plan and objectives to staff, Owner's Engineer, and EPC Contractor.
  4. Support all consultants and contractors in implementing Quality Plans and procedures, and monitor their performance.
  5. Develop and implement audit schedules and plans, including unannounced visits.
  6. Create statistical reports on Quality performance.
  7. Identify and communicate lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
  8. Manage the programmed quality control testing service.
  9. Coordinate and manage third-party audits as required.
  10. Develop and implement a Quality Management System in collaboration with EPC's QC manager, aligning with contract requirements, specifications, and standards.
  11. Prepare monthly quality reports for the project.
  12. Verify procedures and ensure all quality requirements are met through inspection and testing plans.
  13. Participate in Kick-off Meetings with contractors and suppliers.
  14. Ensure subcontractors are informed of specifications, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  15. Ensure staff receive adequate training.
