Job description

Job Title: Quality Manager

A vacancy exists for a Quality Manager (QM), based at Life Bedford Gardens Hospital, reporting to the Hospital Manager.

The successful candidate will be the custodian, together with the Hospital Manager, of the Integrated Quality and Environmental Management system and its effectiveness, and for coordinating quality efforts in support of the hospital management team.

Job Purpose

The main purpose of the role of Quality Manager is management of the Quality System in collaboration with various departments within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including governmental bodies, through participation in forums and networking opportunities.
  2. Managing the hospital's quality and environmental sustainability objectives, ensuring they are reviewed annually and aligned with group objectives.
  3. Communicating targets and driving projects with HODs to achieve quality and environmental goals.
  4. Generating hospital quality scorecards and reports, and providing feedback on trends, risks, incidents, and corrective actions during Quality Review meetings.
  5. Advising on environmental assessments and waste management, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  6. Driving continuous improvement initiatives, including participation in Patient Experience and CARE programs.
  7. Managing deviations, investigations, and close-outs related to quality and environmental incidents.
  8. Overseeing the InfoQuest data management system, including staff training, data accuracy, and reporting.
  9. Conducting risk assessments, monitoring hazard/risk management, and maintaining risk registers.
  10. Analyzing data trends, managing corrective actions, and maintaining CAR registers.
  11. Coordinating Occupational Health and Safety activities, including committee meetings and legal compliance.
  12. Managing emergency and disaster plans, updating procedures regularly.
  13. Ensuring document control governance and participating in audit processes, including corrective actions.
  14. Training staff on quality, safety, and environmental practices, including induction programs.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Safety/Quality Management, or similar.
  • Management experience and clinical knowledge are advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of Safety and Health legislation.
  • Computer proficiency and registration with relevant professional bodies if applicable.
  • Competencies: Problem-solving, analysis, judgment, resilience, communication, influencing, action orientation, relationship building, customer responsiveness, organizational awareness, attention to detail, and rule orientation.
