Accountable for ensuring the implementation, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement of the Quality and Food Safety protocols within the warehouse.
Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to support the warehouse team in ensuring on-site adherence to a fit-for-purpose quality assurance and food safety framework. This role will assist in coordinating quality and food safety assessments and following up on corrective plans and initiatives that have been implemented to mitigate risks/non-adherence. To ensure the effective implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, conduct internal inspections and audits, manage pest control and hygiene requirements within the DC.
Key Accountabilities And Outputs
Food Safety and Quality Management System
- Member of the Regional Food Safety Team responsible for initiating, communicating, monitoring, and reporting on adherence to food safety requirements.
- Continuous improvement to the Quality and Food Safety Management System.
- Coordinate monthly Food Safety & Quality meetings at the warehouse.
- Responsible for enforcing Change Management Controls with respect to Food Safety.
- Ensure all documentation, SOPs, checklists, etc., are completed fully and correctly.
- Provide guidance and assistance to the DC team with external audit preparations.
- Train DC staff on Quality and Food Safety requirements such as product handling and storage practices, stock rotation, self-inspections, internal auditing, handling non-conforming products, emergency preparedness, trade returns, procedures, and recalls.
- Assist with FS-related complaint investigations.
- Assist the DC team with traceability and mock recall exercises.
- Assist with regulatory inspections.
- Implement and enforce Prerequisite Programs (PRPs).
- Ensure trade returns are handled according to SOP.
- Ensure goods receiving and dispatch are in accordance with SOP, maintaining relevant QFS records.
- Manage the Code of Practice.
- Ensure segregation of food and non-food items.
- Enforce visitor and contractor policies.
- Plan and coordinate internal audits and self-inspections.
- Represent BEVCO during external/third-party audits.
- Manage external audit findings, corrective actions, and verification.
- Raise internal audit findings and ensure corrective actions are completed timely.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer food safety and quality mandates/requirements.
Pest Control
- Responsible for internal pest management for the DC.
- Act as the internally appointed pest control officer.
- Manage all pest control records.
- Conduct pest control trend analysis.
- Perform glass and foreign body inspections.
- Conduct cleaning inspections of operational areas, grounds, and facilities.
- Perform locker inspections.
- Verify shunting and distribution vehicles for cleanliness.
Quality Assurance
- Coordinate quality assurance assessments.
- Identify weaknesses in practices, processes, policies, and systems.
- Evaluate controls, identify risks, and create solutions.
- Liaise with authorities for management decisions in cases of non-compliance.
- Execute onsite QA activities to meet standards.
- Inspect final products, packaging, and labelling.
- Inspect incoming CHEP pallets.
- Assist root cause investigations into quality complaints.
- Follow up on corrective actions and provide updates.
- Support implementation of corrective actions.
- Escalate recurring deviations/non-compliance issues.
- Participate in operational planning and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in practices and processes.
Standards and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Quality, Food Safety, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
- Enforce food safety and health regulations and policies.
- Maintain personal hygiene standards.
- Implement contamination control measures.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including incident reporting.
- Stay updated with relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Attend and enforce training related to Quality, Food Safety, and Health & Safety.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum - National Diploma in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Quality Management.
- Up to 3 years’ experience in operational execution; experience in FMCG or warehouse is advantageous.
- Basic proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and email.
